Earth Day 2009 T-Shirt Design Contest

Have your students get involved for Earth Day 2009 by having your students enter the Earth Day 2009 T-Shirt Design Contest sponsored by the National Environmental Science Education Center, Inc. There are four divisions, K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. National winners in each division will have their art design appear on t-shirts and win a $50 US Savings Bond (Series EE). Check out for all of the contest details. We may only send one submission from our school. The one winner from our school that gets their design chosen for submission to the actual contest will get 5 EXTRA extra credit points. Voting will take place on Monday, January 26th.

4th Annual National DNA Day Essay Contest

The contest aims to challenge students to examine, question, and reflect on the important concepts of genetics. Essays are expected to contain substantive, well-reasoned arguments indicative of a depth of understanding of the concepts related to the essay questions. Only 9th - 12th grade students are eligible this year. All essays must be received by March 16, 2009 by 5:00 pm EST. All submissions must be electronic. Please review the rules before submitting the essays. We may only send three (3) submissions from our school. The three winners from our school that are sent will receive 5 EXTRA extra credit points. After the winners have been chosen the essays will be submitted.

Find another contest related to our biology curriculum and get it approved by me. You must bring me in all the information to get it approved and then have your submission done by Friday, January 23.
